My whole life I have known Jesus, but I didn’t know Jesus. You know what I mean? My parents have always been actively involved in church, which lead them to get my sister and I involved as well. Rather it was altar serving, singing for choir, etc. I always did things for Jesus, but I didn’t care. It was all so boring. It took away from my time of playing basketball, watching TV, or eating. There was a point where I just didn’t want to go to church anymore. My freshmen year of high school was a very dark time in my life. I didn’t really have a faith life anymore and it was at that time that God truly found me. I was attending my first stay in retreat and I went in as Austin Thomas and I came out as Jesus Christ. For at that moment it was no longer I who lived but Christ who lived in me! God took me as I was, all my insecurities and flaws, and decided to use me. All my dreams and aspirations I gave to God and I realized God’s plan was greater than mine. I opened my Bible one day and the verse that caught my attention was Luke 1:76, “And you child will be called prophet of the Most High and you will go before the Lord to prepare His ways.” You know that warm fuzzy feeling you get in your stomach when you’re extremely happy? Multiply that by 1000 and that’s how I felt. Today, I can happily say I love going to Mass, being involved in Church and sitting in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Somehow, some way, God is going to make an evangelist out of the boy who chose to eat food over him. As I get ready to start college in the upcoming year I am planning on majoring in Theology and just waiting on how God wants to use me. All I ask of anyone reading my testimony is to just give Jesus a chance and he can do the impossible and then some. God Bless!
